in case of a colon condition, such as: diverticulitis, colon cancer, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which includes ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. Surgery to remove all or part of the colon is called a colectomy.

Risks and Considerations Related to Bowel Resection and Other Colorectal Procedures (removal of all/part of the intestine): leaking and/or narrowing at the spot where two sections of bowel were reconnected, colorectal or anal dysfunction (cannot empty bowel, frequent bowel movements, leakage or constipation).

da Vinci® Rectal Cancer Surgery/Resection

If the condition suggests rectal surgery/resection, it can be done through a few small incisions (cuts) using da Vinci Surgery or traditional laparoscopy. It can also be done using open surgery through a large incision.
